We could probably just pinch all of Microsoft's smilies, they are infinitely better than the stock-standard shit that comes with vBulletin.

Those others are a bit too big, try and find smilie-sized versions and we'll see if they are more suitable. Does someone want to try and turn Jubei into a 21 x 21 pixel gif? :p

I honestly have no idea what the maximum size would be, but it wouldn't be too much bigger than the default smilies. Larger pictures can easily be posted if you want to post them, they just have to be hosted by you.

Yeah, I know how custom smilies work. But you have to remember that smilies cannot be disabled and we still have some poor people capped or on dialup. I know it sounds like I'm grasping at straws, but people complain about anything. As fun as big smilies are, some people hate them with a passion and we have to cater for those people, too.

So, yeah, keep them small and host larger images yourself if you feel you really want to use them.
