Defying Gravity is a multi-nationally produced space travel television drama series, first aired on August 2, 2009 on ABC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Broadcasting_Company) and CTV (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CTV_Television_Network). Set in the year 2052, with flashbacks to five and ten years earlier in the story's continuity, the series follows eight astronauts[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defying_Gravity_%28TV_series%29#cite_note-1)—four women and four men—from five countries on a six-year space mission through the Solar System (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_System),[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defying_Gravity_%28TV_series%29#cite_note-2) during which they are monitored from earth via a real-time communication system.[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defying_Gravity_%28TV_series%29#cite_note-3) The series was pitched to networks as "Grey's Anatomy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grey%27s_Anatomy) in space".[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defying_Gravity_%28TV_series%29#cite_note-HollywoodReporter-4)

The program follows the adventures of eight astronauts on board the international spacecraft Antares. The lives of the astronauts are being constantly recorded and broadcast back to Earth both as part of an ongoing documentary and as part of mission monitoring. In spite of a libido-suppressing device worn by each crew member, referred to as "HALO" for "Hormone Activated Libido Oppressors", romantic entanglements develop among some crew members.

And according to the sneak peek shown on Foxtel, the girls make a bet with the boys to see if any of them can get it up while on HALO. If someone told me there was a show based around guys trying to get erections, I would have guessed 'FOX reality show'.

So, is this the single worst idea for a TV show ever? Are the makers of Grey's Anatomy the new Friedberg and Setzer?

If there were any lingering hope that this show would be remotely scientifically accurate.

Mind, all hope should've drowned at the very mention of Grey's Anatomy.

I wonder what Halo they would even have in 2052. Halo 15 or so at the current rate of production.

And it would indeed be a good bet to see anyone can still get it up over the series by then.

Well, it's better than that series pilot where recently-dead corpses came back to life and returned to their normal everyday lives, leading to a conversation between two undead guys about how sex lasts for ages for them.
Yes, it was American network televison about zombie sex. Babylon Fields, it was called, if you're interested.
