For the life of me I was not able to find a corresponding thread about this game.

I know I am a few months late to this party - I was wonder what you guys thought about the title?

I have just started and am finding it extremely fun with a few minor niggles - namely the dead eye accuracy of the regular enemies with guns. At this stage I am only a few hours in and can't wait to get the gliding thingy as I am finding running around to get a bit annoying at times.

I really liked this game and I agree with everything you posted. What more can I say?
.......

Towards the end of the game I really like the way that you feel so much more powerful than the enemies. One of these days I'll have a second play through as good Cole. Interesting story, I look forward to the sequel!

I'm halfway through my second playthrough as evil Cole on hard. I don't think inFamous is great, but it's got a decent story and the mechanics are fairly solid. I like the ability to ping the minimap, kinda nifty. I dislike side missions which don't make much sense; there's a side mission where I let a police station blow up as Evil Cole and this somehow removes gangs from the area.

Glide makes everything a lot nicer.

I just finished the first area and completed all the side missions. New area looks interesting so far with the enemy types.

Truthfully I am enjoying it a bit more than Prototype at this stage.

That's because it's a shit load better than Prototype, the people making that comparison coming out on Prototype's side must really hate polished games.

Yes, that must be it.

Yeah maybe I shouldn't write posts just as I get up. Anyway, Infamous > Prototype for reasons which are obvious if you played both.

Collection of orbs / shards for example. In Prototype the only way to find them is to see them, which is fine, except the draw distance on them can be so bad that you can't see them in the next building across, even though you really should be able to. The only way to know one isn't there is to actually go there and stand close to it. The way you can practically fly in that game you really should be able to see them from further away so you can spot them as you fly by.

Infamous does have its own share of problems though, namely the characters aren't great (Prototype also suffers from that) and there are a couple powers which aren't particularly usefull.

There was a thread for this game, it must have vanished.

I thought the game was great, played through it twice and got my platinum trophy.
The combat mechanics are really fun but the controls for climbing buildings can get a bit finicky. The graphics are beautiful and highly detailed, feels like a living breathing city. The only game that has done that "living" feeling better is GTA4.

I just hope in the sequel the side missions are greatly improved upon and I really hope there's a lot less reused set pieces. I always find it extremely annoying when I come across multiples of the same building, takes me out of the experience a bit.

I must admit that when I first started it up - after Cole awakens after the explosion I had a grimace and thought "oh god it looks like Prototype" but thankfully that was short lived. I am tempted to try and find all the blue shards and drop zone stuff from the satellite dishes.

Being a sucker for trying to collect things the whole pinging systems is exceptionally well implemented. I hate it how many games have a whole lot of orbs/shards/etc to collect but don't have a system to help you locate them in the slighest (Brutal Legend, Crackdown)

I liked it alot more than Prototype. Wait till you can glide thats when you really enjoy it.

It's a much more polished game than Prototype, it just doesn't have the variety of combat that Prototype provides.

I really enjoyed it, haven't done the second play through as Evil .. but yeah I got into it, I thought the characters and story were pretty good for a game like this, and I enjoyed the twist at the end.

Game feels very polished and you can leap from buildings and into combat quite easily, you really "feel" like a "superhero".

The story so far has impressed me, because I really wasnt expecting anything. Im nearing the end I think, last mission before the last island.

The game is fun and varied, but traveling across the map or scaling buildings isn't that great. The glide helps but it's no substitute for flying. Climbing is tedious as I just keep tapping X to go up.

The Megaton Hammer is awesome.

Just started playing it.

Like I was with FarCry 2 I'm a tad underwhelmed, but I'm sure if I put some more time into it, also like FarCry 2, I'll reap the benefits.

inFamous gets better once you get the abilities that helps you traverse the environment in a far more fluid manner.

So I'm beginning to notice. Everything felt very slow and almost boring when I started. Having played a loved Prototype I was expecting something similar considering all the similarities that people seem to point out, but they are two very different games.

I really liked Prototype. I just had fun going ape shit in a city that was going ape shit. It was nothing more or less than a OTT sandbox. Plus the story was semi-intriguing and did it's job.

Agreed. inFamous feels a lot smoother to navigate and fight. Prototype got pretty unbalanced at times.

I don't know about to navigate. His climbing ability isn't as fluid as say Assassin's Creed and is a lot slower than Prototype.

Yeah but Prototype was just frustrating, the tentacle boss comes to mind. Nothing in inFamous ever came close to shitting me that hard.

inFamous is not perfect, but is better than Prototype :p

Well I'll be happy if it turns out better than Prototype, cause I honestly loved Prototype.

Prototype is all balls to the walls action... and when it tries to slow down it turns to shit.

Really getting into this now. I'm finding myself looking for shards almost every chance I get as well as ploughing through the available side missions.

I love the Blast Shard searching choices, if you'll call it that. You can either find them after you've restored power and have the blue dots surrounded by blue power signs, or you can find them before you restore power which is easier but a hell of a lot more dangerous.

inFamous' Story and gameplay both did it for me, it seems a lot of people in this thread had the privelage of playing Prototype before playing inFamous; all I have to say is "Lucky you." I went to Prototype afterwards hoping for more of the same after Platinuming inFamous but just found it extremely dull.

inFamous2 plox.

Oh yeah, and the first boss in Prototype is absolutely Bullshit. What were they finking.

Sweating Bullets

I don't think you can compare Prototype to inFamous after playing them both.
inFamous was just miles ahead.

Just finished inFamous then and my gosh what an ending!!!!! Brilliant!!!!!!!!!
I am going to try to get all the blast shards and am aiming to get a plat trophy for this. That's the aim anyways....

Can't wait to start it on evil but I do have Assassin's Creed 2 sitting and staring at me....

Okay, in full swing now. Loving Infamous, the story is intriguing and the combat is fluid and fun.

The cutscene art style is awesome as well.

You guys realise that you can see blast shards on your mini map by clicking in R3?

I didn't till about halfway through, and it was so much easier to periodically just ping the mini map to see if one was nearby.

I'm finding searching for blast shards as addictive as agility orbs in Crackdown. Why the hell is this so fun to me!?

I got them all as part of my attempt to platinum, halfway through my evil hard playthrough and I got bored and stopped.

That is a stroke of genius imo. I love the fact that they make it a bit easier and manageable to collect the collectibles.

Have not played this one for a while. Played about 50% then got in to other games. Really enjoying it overall except the main things that bother me are the abysmal dialogue between the characters and I really really don't like the main character. He's such a douche.

On the plus side it does get more fun when you unlock more abilities and the comic-style cut scenes are nice. Why anyone thought enemies that look like they are wearing black bin liners for costumes would be a *good idea* is beyond my me though.

Because they are homeless! I hated those guys tho....

I really wanted to play a bit more of inFamous to get more trophies on it. It was one of the best games I played last year (I love open world games)

Finish it when you can Ninja - I thought it was a stand out game. Ending was brilliant too!

I'll come back to it soon enough, probably after my second play through of Dante's Inferno.

The mechanics of Infamous are solid, I just don't find it compelling. Probably because although the game is good, the combat is a little meh compared to other similar games.

FYI - For anyone who enjoyed Infamous or Prototype, you should really check out both Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, both are really fun open-world games with super powers.
