I want to import a new memory card for playing Gamecube games on my Wii, but I was wondering if there would be any compatibility issues from using a foreign card on my Australian console.

Any help would be appreciated.

None.

I think if you format it for a PAL console, it can only be read on PAL console.

If you try and use the PAL formatted card on another region console (JAP/US) it will prompt you to format it.

You can save US and PAL games on a single GCN memory card, but you can't share Jap games on the same card.

Wouldn't have known this (only because I don't own a US Gamecube).

Luckily for PS2 memory cards you can have different saves from different region consoles.

Sure the time has come for Nintendo to allow you to save GCN games on the Wii. The GCN was almost dead a couple of years after it was release and trying to find memory cards for it nowadays is virtually impossible.

If you do wish to look however, I recommend nyko. They have 1000 or so block Memory cards that have pretty much served for my entire library of games and more.

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep a look out for the Nykos.

I have also been looking at the Official Nintendo Memory Card 1019. I've been finding some forum posts around the web with complaints of data corruption when used with Wii. Has anyone heard of this?

I got a third party memory card. Used it for years. Booted it up a few weeks ago, DATA CORRUPTED FORMATTING.

Hmm well that sucks. Were you using with a Wii?

Yeah. I was using it for years on initially the gamecube and then Wii.

Drop into Gametraders for GCN stuff, That's where I snatched my controllers and memory cards earlier this year. But yeah, you won't find GCN memory cards at any other retailer.

Cool. I'll check them out if I can get there, otherwise I'll order online.
