NME magazine has done a list of the top 100 albums released this decade.
Here is the list http://www.nme.com/list/albums-of-the-decade/158049
What do you think?

Highly disappointed none of the Mars Volta's first 3 albums made it in their, especially Frances the Mute. Otherwise it seems like an alright list. Shit, can't believe some of those albums came out this century...

My Top 100 is better than their Top 100.

Not that I expected much from a music magazine list, but Glasvegas piss me off so very much.
Also, ATDI, but no The Mars Volta? ******s.
Also, ATDI, but no The Mars Volta? ******s.
Makes sense. Not that I agree with the whole list, but ATDI is better by default because they never had the sheer wankery associated with Mars Volta - a band made all the more embarrassing because they actually think their music is serious business.

Top X lists of music are stupid.
What Aran said. Also, everyone knows that no good albums were released in the last decade.

I have only heard two of those albums. Johnny Cash and that PJ Harvey.

I'm really happy for The Strokes but Brian Wilson's SMiLE is ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS OF ALL TIME!
Number 71 is a joke.

Really, all of their albums are great. The first one I used to adore, but now it just seems so bland compared to anything post-deloused.

It's an okay list. There haven't been any really great albums released this decade in my opinion, just some very good ones.
I don't think the Yeah Yeah Yeahs deserve such a high placing, but I agree with Radiohead, The Strokes, Arcade Fire...
I hate The Libertines.
Where are Give Up by The Postal Service, the Franz Ferdinand self-titled album and Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips? They are massive and unforgivable oversights imo. Among a number of others.
TBH I've only heard of about ~15% of the shit on that list.
What do you think?
Amy Whinehouse, Greenday, and White Stripes get two in the Top 20, but no Diorama?
**** that
White Blood Cells is an awesome album but I agree - where the **** is Diorama? British list I guess.

Do you guys mean Silverchair's Diorama?
No, I think he means Duran Duran's Diorama. Am I right TAT? :p

I'm surprised that Lateralus (Tool) or any of Mastodon's albums didn't make the top 30.
Also, it seemed really, really biased towards UK acts.
EDIT: Here are some of my other personal faves from this decade (seeing as the other thread for that has disappeared). Some are just personal faves, but I think almost half of them could be legit contenders for a list like this:
Amon Amarth- Twilight of the Thunder God
Amorphis- Eclipse
Black Label Society- The Blessed Hellride
Busta Rhymes- Genesis
Disturbed- The Sickness
Dragonforce- Valley of the Damned
Dragonforce- Sonic Firestorm
Iron Maiden- Brave New World
Lordi- Get Heavy
Lordi- The Arockalypse
Equilibrium- Turis Fratyr
Equilibrium- Sagas
Mastodon- Leviathan
Mastodon- Blood Mountain
Mastodon- Crack the Skye
Motley Crue- Saints of Los Angeles
Pendulum- Hold Your Colour
P.O.D.- Satellite
P.O.D.- Testify
Rammstein- Mutter
Rammstein- Reise, Reise
Rise Against- Siren Song of the Counter Culture
Rise Against- Appeal to Reason
Rotting Christ- Genesis
Rotting Christ- Theogonia
Running Wild- Victory
Running Wild- The Brotherhood
Running Wild- Rogues En Vogue
Tool- Lateralus
Tool- 10 000 Days
Xzibit- Restless
Xzibit- Weapons of Mass Destruction
What Aran said. Also, everyone knows that no good albums were released in the last decade.
You do realise that this decade saw the release of four Megadeth albums, three Iron Maiden albums and four Dragonforce albums? ;)

What the hell!? List has Chutes Too Narrow and Wincing the Night Away but doesn't have Oh, Inverted World? Or did I miss it?
List could definitely be worse, glad to see a few things in there but much like any list it's not tailored to my tastes, so of course it's missing a number of my favourites.

Well sorry if someone wants a rap-metal band that isn't Rage and isn't shithouse. ;)
These are the only albums you've heard, yes? That's is the only way I can make sense of this.
And on the flipside, you've never even heard any of the albums I mentioned, yes? Hell I bet you haven't even heard of half of those bands. :p
Also, some (many?) of the albums I mentioned are critically acclaimed and considered by many people to be among the decades' best. Maybe there's another way you could make sense of it?
Alternatively, you could name some of your faves from the decade so we can mock those too.

They should call it the 'Top 100 UK albums for the decade' and stop deceiving people then. ;)

Nothing to do with elitism. Based on what I know about Lex, I genuinely believe he's never heard of or listened to any of the metal bands I mentioned, so criticising them for being crap is pretty lame. Criticising bands you've heard of, that's fine. If I'm wrong and he's actually heard those albums, that's fine too. But cheap trolling, that's lame. And defending cheap trolling? That's pretty lame too. :p
You'll notice I didn't call out Lazlow or jawsy for their comments because I believe they actually have listened to the bands they mentioned, so I respect their opinion. I doubt that Lex even knows who Amorphis, Rotting Christ, Equilibrium et al even are, but he's free to prove me wrong.
Woo critical acclaim. Pretty shit way to validate your taste in music.
Jesus, what's wrong with you? I'm not trying to validate my opinion or claim it's better than anyone else's. I don't care if you disagree with my opinion or not. All I'm doing is pointing out that Lex's cheap trolling attempt was a cheap trolling attempt.
I mean, Lex's exact words were:
That's is the only way I can make sense of this.
Really? So the fact that I would consider Lateralus and Blood Mountain to be among my fave albums of the decade, when they have already been called 'album of the decade' by tons of respected critics, doesn't make any sense at all? Fair enough if you say 'I disagree', but 'doesn't make any sense'? I dunno, seems like a poor choice of words. Like if you picked a list of 'best movies of the 1900s' and you said that naming Psycho or Casablanca didn't make sense because you didn't like them. :p
It is, but then again, everyone likes shit music according to someone else.
Pretty much.
Why'd you reply twice. The first one was much more hilarious, assuming that there's a person on earth who doesn't know those albums exist. I certainly lold.
I have heard pretty much every one of those albums. They are mainstream as ****. And also terrible. I'm a much better metal elitist, seeing as i actually listen to obscure bands.
I agree with lateralus, but then you said 10,000 days. And I lold.
I agree with blood mountain, but then I read the rest of your list. And I lold.

Taking a look through that list, I have not listened to one of those 100 albums. I doubt i'd like any of them anyway, oh well~!
I think all these lists are meant to do is to generate traffic for whoever makes them.

That list is actually good (apart from Room on Fire) and diverse unlike NME's.
Also listening to Veckatimest right now
i really could've gone for any of the strokes albums but i chose room on fire because it's the middle one and what ever happened? and reptilia are amazing.

Abso****inglutely.
I had numerous people telling me I should listen to that piece of shit for ages. I finally gave it a few listens and I wanted to scratch my skin off. Disgustingly obvious, tear jerker lyrics over generic pub rock + 'emotion'. 'Stabbed' is gut wrenching.
Also, the whole 'lets include nursery rhyme's in my lyrics' angle is trash.
