View Full Version : Which case?

I am slowly in the process of putting together a new PC and while I'm okay for the insides I'm a bit unsure on which case to get.

At the moment I'm thinking about either:

Corsair Obsidian 800D (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=12727)

or

Antec p193 (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=25_547&products_id=11050)

Probably leaning slightly towards the 800D at this point, but I am really open to suggestion. I like the simple stylishness of these two cases and I'm not looking for a "gaming" case. So any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Personally I lean toward Antec or Lian-Li when it comes to computer cases with few exceptions. I'm still a large fan of the Cooler Master Cosmos too though.

I've had zero experience with Corsair cases though . . . maybe someone that's tried them can shed some light on the subject.

Yeah, I've been looking at the Lian Li B70B which looks really good as well. And someone suggested the Silverstone tj07 which looks amazing!

The Corsair case is the first one they've done in a while (or ever?) so unfortunately not a lot of people would have much experience with it, but it does look great and I've seen some pretty positive reviews.

Ultimately I'll probably narrow it down to a few I really like and then show my partner pictures of them all (prices hidden <_<) and let her pick so I don't get in trouble later... <_<

Antec is trying to hard to look 'futuristic'.

... they do make good cases though.

I do really like the hot swap SATA bays on the Corsair... very handy. But $400 just for the case? Mental.

Personally I swear by Coolermaster: CM690 (http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=25_547&products_id=5863)

I'd go for the Antec case, simply because I've never had a problem with them, ever (in regards to constructing pc's etc).
But if you've been looking at the Lian Li case, get it =P

I'd go with the Antec 183, or some Lian-Li case (I recently bought the Lian Li B25F for its brilliant toolless design & good airflow although it doesn't look very sexy & its not very sound proof) but that Corsair does seem pretty good

It is hard initially to want to pay so much for a case, but after you start looking at the various designs and cool features, and video reviews on YouTube by Rodney Reynolds, you can't help but lust for an up-market case. But you know some people spend $600 on a video card, which would get obsolete pretty quickly, but you can use the same case for >20 years. And a good case design makes working on your PC more enjoyable if the mobo tray is removable, has tool-less features, and doesn't weight a ton.

Not for the wanky website, but because it is excessive and awesome.

Do you think when Andrew O'Keefe comes back from a holiday he has to present all 25 of his cases to customs?

Come on guys, just because it doesn't have a bunch of windows to show off your trashy neons? Check some of the reviews: the website is tragic, but the case is exceptionally clever, well made and well designed.

Seems pretty average for air cooling, and it's close on impossible to water cool it. I can't see those 2 60mm 2500rpm HDD cooling fans being all that quiet either. Plus, Thermaltake are pretty shit in general.

The only thing I can really give to them is a fresh look and design, but it's not all that attractive.

I hate case windows too -- honestly wish my case didn't have one myself . . . but the paint job is worth putting up with the window.

The case itself doesn't look aesthetically pleasing, and the price is unreasonable.

It actually looks pretty nice if you look at it on the other side.

Atomic reviewed it and said that it was pretty good for cooling (which I can certainly believe). But it's cost is about $1000 which is a little outside what I'm prepared to spend on a case at the moment (or possibly ever).

Yeah, that's it. Derp.

It's an ugly case, and way overpriced considering there is much better shit on the market for half that.
