I have recently set up my old PS2 again and wanted some recommendations for awesome and readily available games. Games that can be quickly finished would be good, or games with loads of depth. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

By the way, before you say it I'll definately be picking up Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.

I'm in love with Okami, Final Fantasy XII is worth a shot if you already like FF series, .hack// series has a lot of depth but you will NOT quickly finish that shit. Kya is available bizarrely cheaply but is easy and fun (you play a girl though, if you can handle that). We <3 Katamari.

I'm only mentioning games in a breezy fantasy/action genre here cos it sounds like your s-t-y-l-e.

Shadow of the Colossus then throw the thing out

......OR, sell it on Ebay. Those suckers get about $60-$70 still.

God Hand if you like your games rough around the edges, but odd. Ico if you find it. God of War 1 & 2, must-haves.

I've got God of War 2 lying around somewhere, but I've not played it and I plan on picking up Ico and Shadow of the Colossus from ebay if necessary. I like most genres of games, but prefer shooters and RPGs

MGS3, a MUST have!

Steam Bot Chronicles, a really fun nonlinear adventure.

Rouge Galaxy, great rpg.

Shadow Hearts: Covenant, good rpg with fantastic combat and humor.

Ooooh. Ebaying Ico and SotC will probably garner you prices that aren't cheap, especially Ico. For that you might still be looking at $80-$90, which is the reason I haven't grabbed it yet. Great game, but I refuse to pay that much for a last-gen game. If you get Ico and SotC, hold onto them, no matter what, cos those price-tags are only going up!

I've got God of War 1 here if you want it, hoping it's in reasonable condition. Just picked up the 1 & 2 collection for PS3, so I'll be looking to offload the PS2 games.

Ah the old excuse "they don't make them anymore you HAVE to buy astronomical prices".

A Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder or a Faberge egg I can understand, but not a series of code on a DVD.

Just make more of these games; there's obviously a market. Who's not doing their job here ffs.

Check the second hand market of local games shops and pawn brokers.

Ebay prices are horrible for those games.

I bid on ICO for about 3 months (aiming to get if for under $100) but kept getting outbid. Then I found one in a pawn brokers for $10, in damn near perfect condition, with all the cool postcards in the cover. I guess somebody never played it and then sold it, lucky me!:D

If you're still looking for more game ideas, this list may be handy:

I can't be arsed typing every recommendation, but if you are more specific in stating what you are into (RPGs, FPS, 3rd person hack and slash / action games, sports, etc) then I'm sure you'll get more relevant recommendations.

*Ratchet and Clank 3 is pretty good fun and goes for under $20 these days

Hmmmm, that reminds me...

Soul Reaver 2, Legacy Of Kain Defiance, Dark Chronicle, Yakuza 1 and 2, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, Dragon Quest VIII, Shadow Of Memories, Jak and Daxter Series, Klonoa 2, Star Ocean 3, Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven, Project Zero 1 and 2. There is LOADS of great games on the PS2 worth your time, problem is, that it would be hard as nails to find most of those on the cheap these days.

ebay.co.uk is full of bargains, I often find things that I can't find in the oz ebay store for PS2 etc, usually cheaper as well

I'm still enjoying this one and it goes for an absolute steal these days

Odin Sphere $22

It's a action game with RPG stats, that plays like a side scrolling beat em up, where you have to fight strategically. Loads of hours to play, but it does get repetitive. Fun game though, and that listing is a sealed unplayed new game, same seller I bought my one from.

Yeah you can't go wrong with Klonoa 2, but I still prefer the original.

So have you played Rainbow Brite VS Strawberry Shortcake Death Match EX? That shits all about the colours

No... but just from title alone I assume incredible greatness.
