Hello lovely Hyper folk,
have you seen how lame this is?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyper_(magazine)
Took a look today and was sad to see that such a great magazine with such a long history had a wiki entry the size of the nutrition information of a water bottle.
If I had time I would totally do some updating of my own, but I thought I'd bring it to the Hyper forum's attention and say "GO FORTH AND UPDATE"! At least to get one of Malky's awesome covers up there. From 1993/4 to 2009, I think there's a lot of cool things this entry could have in it.
Okay, bye now! Hope everyone's still diggin on the mag.
Eliot
P.S. If anyone cares what I do these days... I'm working behind the scenes on the ABC's Good Game. Watch us every monday at 8:30pm on ABC2!
I seem to recall that page being updated in the past and a bunch of people got banned, or am I thinking of some other wiki...

Let's just say the Hyper wiki used to be a rather extensive account of both the magazine and associated forum's history... then some people took it a little too far. Bannings were issued a shit storm erupted and the community splintered.
So I wouldn't suggest you trust us to look after it again. :P

Actually the entry used to be about 5 times the size it is now, but 'someone' went and edited it all down to what it is now.

I don't think Dramatica counts.
A few Hyperians did work on a Wikipedia page at one point, but the Wikipedians caught on and excised all the forums crap for lack of notability. Shitstorm erupted, someone from here started harassing a user from over there, etc.
End result, since everyone here was having a tanty over not being notable enough, and speculating that the editors we pissed off were probably from WP:VG (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:VG), nobody gave a shit about the page anymore.
Sometime after, Jubei posted the ED Hyper article and linked it here with a heading along the lines of "we're finally in a wiki" for a milestone or something.

I also have been an editor of the magazine.
By cutting pages up and glueing them into a strange tome I keep in a small temple in my basement.
The dramatica page is hilarious by the way, but some very grotesque images that can't be unseen, regardless of how many times you chant "photoshopped, photoshopped" to yourself.
I'm sad I don't get a mention there.

So basically Eliot makes a forum account just so he can get people to add his name onto the wiki page. That's excellent.

As far as I know there's been many an attempt to get Hyper magazine and forums on Wikipedia properly, but Wikipedia's biased and socially retarded moderators have reverted every attempt.
Hyper Wiki Bans was on Encyclopedia Dramatica.

To be fair you probably could have posted "Hey how's it going, nice weather we've been having" and it would have opened a can of worms at this place

I can't believe someone thinks those images are *that bad*...

To be perfectly honest, we covered you in an actual thread on MJ (before the transition to UYAC) with a good level of mature discussion between the previously outcast (i.e., BANHAMMERED) members and most of the current/previous mods.
The ED article was written between June and October of last year (hence, nothing more recent has been added).
"Hey how's it going, nice weather we've been having"
What business is it of yours what the weather is like?!
Does it really matter? Nothing interesting happens here.

No, it really was him - and I know this because I was there when he posted it.
I agree though, Hyper needs a more respectable Wiki. A particular mention of notable deputy editors would be nice (actually, I kid - it does need some love though).

Let us then have a copy put here of what it SHOULD (a serious version) and then we can have teams putting it up as fast as it comes down until it sticks.

The website has hosted an internet forum since 1996 that serves as a link between editors and readers of the magazine.
Really? All I remember was a bright orange abomination of a website that wasn't updated for a billion years.
I prefer the ED entry.

Pretty much what Lex said: nothing notable happens here, ever.
As far as I know there's been many an attempt to get Hyper magazine and forums on Wikipedia properly, but Wikipedia's biased and socially retarded moderators have reverted every attempt.
You're not completely serious on this one, are you? Most of the culled material in the Wikipedia page's revision history is shit, and the forum's page was worse. I'm not sure what being "socially retarded" has to do with anything, either, Wikipedia isn't a friggin' blog.
Really?
^This, as a rhetorical question. Editors don't tend to spend much time here, forumers don't tend to spend much time talking about the magazine.
