Best multiplayer shooter I've played to date. Altho Modern Warfare 2 runs it damn close

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite

The best co-op game I've played since the 16-bit era. Nothing's better than combining your resources and synchronising your strategies to take down giant monsters. Also, it's on PSP so you don't need a second HDTV to play same room co-op. :p

Nothing beats jumping into a boat with three other friends, dropping off a battle-ship and driving into war on a tropical island. Killing my fellow Hyperians by tank brought me great enjoyment.

Modern Warfare 2

Even with the PC lack of dedicated servers and the glitchy unbalanced multiplayer. I have sunk the most time into this game leveling up in multiplayer.

I punched my friend because he kept wasting ammo. Good times.

Mainly because I suck a tiny bit less at this than I do at Modern Warfare 2, so better times were had by me. That, and nothing gives me greater pleasure than being killed by Cian in a tank.

Supremely polished and balanced DotA clone that is completely free to play and extremely addictive.

Don't hate me Left 4 Dead 2, but I've got to go with Battlefield 1943

Two underleveled Bricks going Berserk on Skagzilla could quite be possibly the most enjoyable thing I've encountered all year.

Street fighter 4.

The month when EVERYONE was playing online was incredible. Perhaps more significantly, it reinvigorated local multiplayer for me.

I've spent more time playing MW2 but it didnt excite me to quite the same extent.

Super competitive, completely addictive and absolutely free. League of Legends is team-based multiplayer at its best.

Although I hate to admit it I'm gonna have to vote for Modern Warfare 2. One of the only games of the year I actually played multiplayer, really improved on the first one's multiplayer imo (apart from lag).

Definitely the most fun we had in the flat all year. Firefight mode was excellent.

Honourable mention: Trials HD
"Give me the controller, you suck at this!"
"One more try!"

Yep. Probably the best multiplayer game of all time.

For the same reasons i'm throwing my vote to SFIV. Never before has a game made me look deep into its strategy and train to improve my skills for online play.

Close second would be Uncharted 2 which, surprisingly, has had not one vote yet.

Same here. Pushing Natrak and Cer around with the front of the buggy had us all in stitches.

Couldn't split them - both are multiplayer experiences I will want to relive over and over again now and in years to come.
