Left 4 Dead 2

Modern Warfare 2 is multiplatform so it was sort of between Left 4 Dead 2 and Forza 3 by default. L4D 2's multiplayer carnage modes put it over the line for me

Old school gaming with a modern polish, a triumph for the Summer (Winter) of Arcade promotion.

I don't think 'multiplatform' matters in this case TAT, otherwise you wouldn't be able to vote for L4D2 on PC either, or vote for Modern Warfare 2 for any 'Best X Platform Game" altogether.

Anyway, since I put it as GOTY, I'll put Brutal Legend here as well.

Forza 3

A tremendous success as a complete package. Gorgeous smooth visuals with great sound wrapped around a solid driving model, complemented by a fantastic and diverse online component. From racing, to painting, tuning and selling all bases are covered. Add on top some great DLC and gift cars, Turn 10 are the gift that keeps on giving!

Batman: Arkham Asylum

Let's face facts, comic book heroes that make the jump to video games more often than not fail to make the impact they want to (Superman Returns anyone?). At best they come off as mediocre.

I believed that there was only one comic book game that was true to it's "character" was The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction.

Four years later, Batman: Arkham Asylum is the second game which remains faithful to it's character and I'm sure the comic book fanboys will attest to that.

Batman lurking in the shadows, using his gadgets and taking down enemies by stealth. Bats maybe the star of the show and more importantly the villians?

The characters, the voice acting, the graphics, the gameplay and more importantly the atmosphere of Arkham Asylum make this the total package.

This the benchmark that comic book video games should be measured by.

GTA 4: Episodes from Liberty CIty

Two cracking stories for the less than a full priced game. The lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony were excellent expansions of the GTA 4 world. Packed full of personalities and explosions a plenty. This game is a great example of DLC done right.

The best expansions ever made for the best game of this generation. Simple as that.

Hells yes, I vote for this. The level of content being relatively decent with what is released retail wise is also worth a mention. Bring on the sequel. Either that or a new Metroid from the same developers.

Forza Motorsport 3

I'm nominating this purely because it's the #1 most-played game in our household this year, and will be for years to come. Turn 10 took their racing simulation to an entirely new level, and gave the 360 another must-own title. Easy to get into for beginners without ever compromising its hardcore fanbase, Forza 3 sets a huge standard for the future of the racing genre.

Better graphics, more cars, cool new tracks, greatly expanded car customisation, a better learning curve for newbies and an expanded online community that's already producing some pretty cool stuff. One of the best reasons to own a Xbox 360 right now.

If we are talking Xbox exclusive would have to be Forza 3, otherwise Batman Arkham Asylum.

Despite that I'm playing it on PS3 .. I didn't get an opportunity to vote for it in other categories :p

It's an awesome game though, that is a signficant improvement over the first.

I hope the guys that made this game are the team that do all superhero games from now on. Other companies need to hand over the licences now

Each player has there own unique look and style and the soundtrack is awesome. Gameplay is simple but if you want a real challenge you can change the difficultly to your liking. You can do a season or one on one and in this years 2k you can create your own player and work your way up through college to the NBA. I bought it 2 months ago and still cant put it down. Come on a sports game must win it this year.

One of the things I really liked about this game was the different style of play you could use to complete the various missions. Run and gun, stealth, sniper, or death from above. The No Russian segment finally created a truly gaming moral dillema, with your conscience being the only penalty for choosing the evil option.
