Harvey Norman are selling this (http://www.voxson.com/VLCD32XT.html) at the moment for $499 and I was wondering what you guys thought. Anyone ever had a Voxson brand anything before? Or even heard of it?

I stay away from nonamers because it's such a gamble, they could be rebranded samsung screens, or they could be complete shit. It's usually the latter.

That's pretty much the modus operandi I'm working with but for $499 it's so tempting.

All I remember about Voxson is that they used to make semi-decent car audio gear. My guess is that they're one of those faceless brand-names these days like TEAC, Magnavox, Akai and so on.

Not worth the risk imo. 500 is a lot of money - at least to me - to put down on something that you have to go on an Internet forum and ask if anyone has even heard of the brand or if they are any good. Tempting as it may be, you're much better off saving an extra couple of hundred and getting a better brand. Cheap is cheap for a reason.
