****ing loved this game on gamecube, I borrowed it from a friend and did some time traveling but completely paid off my house in two weeks.
Started playing Animal Crossing on Wii. My house is so cluttered at the moment because Tom Nook's store is getting renovations tomorrow. Still need an axe and a slingshot.
Is there any bugs to catch in Winter?
How do I get rid of rocks?

Unfortunately you can't get rid of rocks but every day there's a magic rock that has bells in it when you hit with a shovel.
The bugs you can catch in winter are Pill Bugs, Centipedes, Mole Crickets, and Dung Beetles.

hell i love animal crossing, too. Just saying. but for your question, the bugs sometimes sit on the snowballs that are cluttered all over the place.

Mole Crickets are the ones you have dig up to catch.
hitting rocks produce the centipede's and pill bugs.

Saw one after I scared it off on a snow ball, I wanted to catch the winter only ones before it's too late.
I've sent heaps of letter with presents hoping for a different fruit to be give but no luck yet.

I just purchased the Animal Crossing with Wii Speak bundle, import from UK. Just found out that the Wii Speak channel code is region locked.

I have Animal Crossing on DS. Is it any good on the Wii, or is it like, just the same? Should I get it?

Unfortunately it's practically the same. And still not as good as the GCN one...

WhyMe (or anyone else), would you say the GCN one is the best? I'm thinking about getting back into it casually and I was much more keen on the GCN one then the DS one...

Why not get the Wii one? Better graphics and has online features.

The GameCube version has retro games you can play.

I couldn't stand the perspective in the DS one and I can't imagine I'd enjoy it any better in the Wii version! I liked the overhead oldschool zelda style acres. I've also heard that day-specific events are better in the GCN one as opposed to the newer ones... but I can't remember where I heard that so not so sure whether it's relevant or not.
I should do a bit of a look into Wii versus GCN since they are practically the same price... I just really don't like that perspective :/ Makes everything seem so limited, whereas in the GCN you could really appreciate your quaint little town.
Just not sure if there is enough extras in the Wii one to make me get over it... online doesn't make much of a difference given nobody plays it, and the impression I got was otherwise it's mostly just a port of the DS one. I should really just read some reviews...

Don't get the Wii one, you're exactly right in the GCN being better! Aside from the superior perspective, the whole atmosphere of the game is just superior. It really does, as you say, feel like a quaint little town.
Bar the DS/Wii version's various Museum tracks, the GCN version has waaaaay better music that contributes really effectively to the aforementioned atmosphere of the game.
On paper, there's nothing wrong with the Wii version, but it's just missing that special something the original had.

Saw the Wii one for $25 at GAME but I really just didn't want it. GCN all the way :P
