The NFL playoffs have begun. Seeding is as follows;

AFC:
1. Indianapolis Colts
2. San Diego Chargers
3. Cincinnati Bengals
4. New England Patriots
5. New York Jets
6. Baltimore Ravens

NFC:
1. New Orleans Saints
2. Minnesota Vikings
3. Dallas Cowboys
4. Arizona Cardinals
5. Green Bay Packers
6. Philadelphia Eagles

The wild card round is this weekend, the games will be;

8:30am Sunday 10/1/2010 Bengals vs Jets
12:20pm Sunday 10/1/2010 Cowboys vs Eagles

5:00am Monday 11/1/2010 Patriots vs Ravens
8:30am Monday 11/1/2010 Cardinals vs Packers
(Australian dates and times)

Personally am very excited, even though the Eagles (who I support) have to go back to Dallas where we lost last week 24-0 with the divison championship and the #2 seed on the line.

Anyone else looking forward to the playoffs?

I've been really enjoying watching the NFL on One so this could be pretty good. Unfortunately I've got an exam on the 11th and work on the 10th so I'm probably not going to be able to watch any of those games but I'll definitely try to watch some of the other games.

Kinda an Eagles fan too since they have the Aussie connection and everything, but I'm still trying to figure out the rules a bit.

I watched the first quarter of the Jets/Bengals repeat while eating tonight... looked liked the Bengals were about to get steamrolled.

I guess you could consider me a Rams fan, but that stems from the Warner/Faulk days.

The Bengals weren't playing for anything, they had already clinched their division and a playoff birth, and the Jets were playing for the playoffs.

Sucks about the Rams :p

lol, grimace. If they don't beat the Eagles at home (in their best form since they were bundled out by the Giants in '07) they may never win another post-season game. The fact that they haven't won a playoff game in something like fourteen years is downright staggering, given their profile and resources.

Kinda an Eagles fan too since they have the Aussie connection and everything, but I'm still trying to figure out the rules a bit.
Yeah, three playoff teams have Aussie connections, which is kinda cool. Ben Graham is actually playing lights out for the 'Cards at the moment (after getting the flick from at least two/three other teams previously).

Pretty confident the Packers can do it again this week. Rodgers is near unstoppable at the moment and Arizona have a couple of key injuries (particularly if Boldin doesn't play). An NFC division showdown between Favre and Rodgers would be classic.

Can't wait to see Manning choke again after piling up the stats in the regular season. He must already be trembling at the notion of getting embarrassed by the Chargers again.

Thats right he threw the interception on the game winning play last year to make the giants go on through. I knew he stuffed up TWICE in the past 2 years.

A Cowboys vs Vikings Super Bowl would be great to watch IMO. Give Brett F the send off he needs to top a fantastic career.

Fantastic to see him playing so good at forty years old though. I thought he would be far better than most predicted this year (some of the criticism about his play coming in was ridiculous), but his TD-interception ratio has been unbelievable.

It isn't the loss that hurts the most. It's the lack of intensity, the lack of heart. Your going out there with a shot at a Superbowl, something that has dogged this team and town for the 11 years of the Reid/McNabb era. Instead we got a drubbing, a loss by a team that looked like they didn't want to be there. That's what hurts the most.

D.C.
10-01-2010, 09:39 PM
I'm not sure if the Cowboys were just playing really good, or the Eagles really bad. Philly have been a bit suspect throughout the season (playing some absolute blinders and then losing to the Raiders), but it'll be interesting to see where they go from here. No doubt the media will be calling for McNabb's head (I have no idea how the guy has survived there for so long given the reception he received the first day he was drafted), but the bigger question marks should be on the play-calling and Westbrook.

Whatever the case, the game was a stinker from mid-way through the first quarter. And the Jets/Begals wasn't much better. :(

Did anybody see the Pack/Cardinals OT game today on Fox? What a ****ing sick game. Neither team played defense, but it was definitely one of the most thrilling games in recent memory. If Rodgers had pulled off that unbelievable comeback every GB fan would probably have wiped out Favre from their memories forever.

Good to see that Dallas choked again in the Playoffs. Romo just loses the plot in the games that matter. Go Brett he is proving that he is one of the best QB the NFL will ever see. It would be great for the vikings to take out the SB.

Yeah, definitely on the Vikings/Favre bandwagon, given the Pack were eliminated last week. I thought they would win, but not flat-out embarrass the Cowboys.

Shocked at the Chargers/Jets outcome too. NY probably won't stand a chance next week against the Colts, which means that overrated P. Manning can have a shit game and still be labeled the greatest.

25-01-2010, 03:47 PM
The pass was terrible, however the FG still would have only been 50-50 if he had kept it and ran for the extra five yards. And given how the Saints were dropping him late on nearly every drop-back (not to mention trying to break his leg), I could understand him throwing - just not so badly.

Probably would have helped if Adrian "can't hold a ball" Peterson didn't fumble on every carry. Talk about overrated. His terrible hands cost the Vikings far more than Favre throughout this season.

Should be an interesting SB nevertheless. Given the way the Saints played today they'll probably going to be destroyed by the Colts, but who knows, maybe Peyton will choke again...

Don't worry, he'll be coming back for the V next season. The fact he didn't declare retirement immediately after the game (again, in which he was almost killed) basically confirms he's eager for another whirl. Short of some ridiculously awful injury, like a broken leg (actually make that two, he could still hop around on one), nothing is going to keep him from throwing that ball again.

And good for him.

I know it's all fun and play, but McNabb looked ****ing awful in the P. Bowl. When he wasn't scrambling for a few measly yards, he was making some shockingly bad throws.

I don't think he was trying. It's been a long season and the constant questions about his future must be taking their toll.

He'll be back next season, no matter which way you look at it he is a better choice as a starter than Kevin Kolb or Michael Vick.

I'd be interested to see how Kolb does (everyone seems to think he is in the Aaron Rodgers mold) but if it backfires and McNabb is gone your screwed.

Plus, I love Donovan.

D.C.
03-02-2010, 07:46 PM
Yeah, McNabb is definitely their best bet at the moment, but the inaccurately (probably his biggest flaw), just really stood out during the game.

The talk about Kolb is interesting, because even though he threw for 300 yds in both those games, he doesn't look anywhere near the level of Rodgers when he was given the starting gig. I'd imagine Reid is smart enough to know if/when to pull the trigger on him.

Incidentally, there's no way Vick is back for Philly next season. They'll spread the word out about keeping him, but it really will be just to drive up his trade value. Besides, he seems to have this wild notion that he's still a top-10 QB, and I'd imagine at least one team will still be desperate enough to give him a shot as their starter.

Why the frig is Dave Hughes there?
Because Ten/One decided to **** with the coverage on the most important game. :( Not only did they have a bunch of morons who clearly didn't have the slightest clue about the game, but they decided to show stupid SB commericals when the onside kick was in process.

Good game. Certainly wasn't nearly as memorable as the last couple of SBs, but fantastic to see NO win.

lol, Peyton. Brees completely outplayed him today. Everyone bagged the shit out of Favre for his pick in the championship game, but he was knocked around consistently. Manning is barely touched for the whole game and still throws an absolute duck of a pass when the pressure is truly on. What's worse is that he actually had the audacity to chew out his offensive line mid-way through the third quarter. For a guy so many love to proclaim the best ever, he will have to pad his stats for another five years if he keeps wilting in the playoffs.

Watching a CFL game from last year between the B.C. Lions and the Toronto Argonauts, its pretty cool;

- larger field allows for more wide open play
- 12 on field per side allows for more options
- Only 3 downs which negates 2 yard grinds up the middle
- Unlimited backfield motion
- Larger endzones for more open goaline plays
- No fair catch
- No taking a knee with an endzone deep reception for a 20 yard restart
- Cap on 16 import players means half the ego
