Just watching sportscentre today and they announce that ESPN is going to be filmed in 3D starting with a FIFA world cup qualifyer soccor game and moving on from there. All you need is the glasses you stole from Avatar and a 3D capable TV.

3D sports sounds great IMO

Edit: Price check on 3D Tv's ....

This might be good if ESPN weren't involved. Terrible sports network.

Seriously? because that means they're not going to start filming for almost 2 years at the earliest.

I'm pretty sure that the 3D method they use at the movies (alternating polarised frames) isn't possible on television sets and that you have to use special glasses that come with the 3D TV (they're synced shutter glasses I think), which makes the point moot anyway.

??? You get the glasses with the Tv's so you point is ?( the avatar reference was due to the fact that it was the big 3d thing in Aus at the time) Havent you kept up with the latest Tech shows. When i started the thread the official 3d launches werent stated, since then its been released so what are you talking about. I was stating that in a couple of months its moved from high end future release to being able to buy the TV's at retail stores like best buy in the states. Stop being so literal.

I was just saying, as a point of interest I suppose. I don't think LCDs are capable of polarised frames, not sure about plasmas but probably similar. I think that projectors could be made to use an identical system to cinemas. That's all I've got to add.

Did you mean World Cup Finals? They are close now. The qualifiers for 2014 won't start for awhile yet.

This news intrigues me.
