Put simply, has anyone heard of any problems with this model? It's the cheapest 42 inch full HD 1080p on the NZ market.

It's what I need, I'm no brand whore and don't give a shit about fancy features.

I've never heard of that brand. Feature wise it sounds alright but I'd recommend viewing it in person to give yourself a better judgment when it comes to choosing between tvs. Also I read on another website that it only has 2x HDMI connectors, not sure if that'd be a concern for you

Actually according to DSE it only has one HDMI port. And that's enough for the 360 for me.

I've had a look at one in the store but as you know, all their settings are shite so if I want to go the whole hog I'll have to google a proper settings and change it instore; something I'd rather not do.

Buy it and make sure you can exchange it or get your money back if you need to. Try it for yourself because you are the best judge. Having said that, however, I'd personally never buy a brand I hadn't heard of or wasn't familiar with, especially in regards to a big purchase. A thousand dollars is a helluva lot of money to drop on something you're unsure of. I think it would be a wiser choice to continue saving and getting a more reputable brand. You may not be a 'brand whore', but does it not make sense to buy something that has a better reputation for quality?

One brand name to avoid: RankArena :p Both for their quality and your friends making jokes about it

The thing about proper brands is that you can have a lot more confidence that they'll be around if shit goes wrong with your expensive consumer electronics. These guys, who knows if they even existed 6 months ago, or if they'll still be around in 6 months?

If you're only using the HDMI port for a 360 then you don't need a television with 1080p. Panasonic Vieras are really good value and very reliable. You'd be better off to get something slightly smaller but better known imo.

If you have a wii get the accidental damage insurance.

You're better off going with an established brand for a few reasons. With them you have a general idea of panel quality, image quality, build quality, and warranty.

PS: There's no magic way to fix image quality issues with calibration. Some, even calibrated as best as possible, can still be off by a mile.

I couldn't see the telly via that link. why not try "(brand name) reviews" on a search engine?
