I just enjoyed playing SMW2:YI more with the SNES controller than the GBA button layout.

Argh don't remind me, I'd love to get Mutant Mudds. To be fair it's the UK rating system holding VVVVVV up & Trip World is at least on the eshop, a game I tried for ages to get an original cart of & never succeeded but I won't buy anything until VVVVVV goes up. When it does I'll add 50 bucks worth of credit and go crazy. The wait just kills me I really like having built in games on my handhelds.

I got my Kid Icarus code today at least, totally worth the $90 I spent on Mario Land & Steel Diver (jokes I would have picked those up anyway). It was interesting to note the Arika logo, I didn't realise they worked on it but it gives me hope given how thorough and pedantic they were with those Cave ps2 ports. I might even get around to playing it later on tonight, never played it but I saw an episode of Game Center CX with the original NES version recently and it looked alright, should be good.

I just got mostly through Super Mario 3D Land and I'm really disappointed. It seems really lazy. ALL the music is IDENTICAL to previous games, as well as most of the enemies. Also, I know Mario games aren't played for their story but c'mon. Peach gets stolen, Mario chases after her. It got really boring because I have done it all before.

With all the flak CoD gets for 'being the same game over and over' (which I don't disagree with) why doesn't the Mario series get some criticism?

Dark Conflicts gameplay tweaks were fine, it was just set in a different world / story whatever to the other games and no where near as engaging.

We all know that 3DS console and 3DS games are region locked.

The same goes for the DSi/DSiXL/DSiLL console and DSi enhanced games.

Therefore, your local (AU) DSi game should play on your local (AU) 3DS console without any problems.

Everyone assumes that a "DS" game will play on all DS compatible consoles (DSphat/DSLite/DSi, etc /3DS).

However....after doing some surfing on the interweb, unless it's blatanly advertised as a "DSi enhanced" title or via a warning (http://www.vooks.net/images/ds_region_sonic.jpg), the only way to tell if a "DS" game is region locked or not is via the to check the code near the barcode on the back of the game case.

If the code starts with NTR-xxx-xxx then the "DS" game is region free.

If the code starts with TWL-xxx-xxx then the "DS" game is most likely region locked and can only be played on it's respective region specific DSi/3DS console or on DSPhat/DSLite (without any of the DSi enhanced "features").

I have yet to read of a TWL-xxx-xxx game that does not play on a DSPhat/DSLite.

EDIT: The code is also on the DS game cart. For Tetris DS (AU) it's NTR-ATRE-AUS.

That was one of the worse moves Nintendo did for their handheld consoles.

Just a trap to be aware of regarding "DS" games.

Can't play Pokemans Black on my import DSiLL, so I'm waiting on fire sales on the local (AU) DSiXL (and yes the bigger screens do make a difference).

It's shocking. I might have to buy a Vita just so I can play the sequel to 999 if it doesn't come to Europe like the first, one of the best DS games. Great job Nintendo.

Can't people just get pirated versions of all Nintendo's games just to get around their... piracy measures? Is region locking a piracy measure? Or maye they just do it to reinforce the massive price gouging they do in our territory, charging 2-3 times as much.

I think they do it so they are able to have long delays between regions without any real damage caused to the sales.

It's possible to get VVVVVV on the UK eshop now so that's something at least. It's quite a bit more responsive then the PC version, doesn't have that input lag and seems a bit smoother. Retail games wise though 3DS is a bit sad but it'll surely pick up, the DS took a couple of years to pick up as well.
