The 2010 World Cup is now just over a month away. So now is the time to start building some excitement for the Hyper Sweep.

Here's how it will work:
Nominate your interest by posting in this thread.
On the 4th of June, teams will be randomly assigned through draw from a hat.

(In the event that we have more than 32 competitors, the first 32 will be assigned and then all the countries will be put back into the hat and assignment will restart).

Every time your team loses to another person's team, you will be obligated to pep them.

In signing up you agree to undertake to do this.

We've got 27 competitors so far, only needing 5 more until every team is represented. So if there's any soccer fans out there that haven't signed up, make sure you get them on board.

As far as the prizes front goes, I've messaged the admins asking if there is anything hyperactive could offer (I suggested they could add to people's pep scores) but I've had absolutely no response. So perhaps if people want to message them yourselves to try to get some kind of response, they might perhaps listen to weight of numbers.

Okay. I'm just trying to think of a fair way to do it.

Here's what we'll do. I will PM two competitors with a link to a random number order generator and they will email me back the numbers 1-32 in random order. The first list will be the order of competitors (relative to the order they appear in the OP) and the second list will be the order of teams (relative to how they appear in my previous post).

Any additional competitors will just be allocated a random number that will equate to a team (however if the number of competitors divided by 32 is greater than the number of competitors assigned to that team then the random number will be redrawn - ie you can't have 3 people assigned to a team if other teams only have 1 person assigned).

South Africans have barely been in the ****ing game until 3 minutes before the end of that first half..they looked sloppy, passes were shit..altho they looked to have steadied now.

That Mexican goal that was called offside..how the **** can it be offside if there's a player standing on the near post? Ive been playing soccer for like 10-12 years or longer and I was always under the impression that its offside if theres no player between you and the goalie when the ball is passed ie

End result is that I'm hoping for a nil all draw with about 5 red cards. But I'll take a positive out of it no matter what the result. :p

it feels like they arent winning the ball in the midfield enough, especially in the air. They're turning over the ball in the midfield, again from the air as well. It's frustrating to watch, and the Americans are defending quite well. Ironic that the only thing Tim Cahill did for his team tonight was get sent off. Weak red card but still for the time he was on the pitch he did absolutely stuff all.

Australia's defense didn't stand anywhere near close enough to their opponents, consequently allowing them to build up speed and just run right ****en past them. Flat footed poor offside strat lost the game.

Also, why were our players standing behind the massive German central defender every time the ball was played in? the dude is a ****ing giant and they're standing behind him. Was piss poor, our skills were there but we had **** all pace, **** all class, and nowhere near enough shots on goal, and absolutely no flexibility. Disgrace imo


I think a real problem for Australian football is that we are too tough. Our A league is full of people hacking away at eachother, a result of AFL upbringing and lack of skill compared to the Europeans..so we walk into contests like these and play rough in a sport where contact is forbidden and players milk the shit out of the slightest touch. Far too many Germans went down far too easily though..
