PS3 HDD Upgrade

I'm thinking of upgrading my 60gig into a size more fitting for PlayTV, PSN downloads and storing TV shows. I've done some research and it seems fairly simple to do, but I'm wondering if anyone would like to share their experiences or opinions on upgrading.

I've heard Western Digital SATA hard drives are the way to go, gonna head down to MSY to check out some prices.

its pretty easy, beware of the shitty screws Sony use to secure the HDD, those threads bust easy. if it won't seem to unscrew easily try using pliers to do the job.

what is the maximum capacity hdd can you fit in a ps3, also just to clarify things, you can only fit a 2.5" hdd in a ps3 cant you?

I upgraded mine to (I think) 250 GB. Definately worth it, no longer having to constantly uninstal games or delete music and can now actually store TV shows on my PS3 (gasp). Anyone with old phat PS3 should definately upgrade.

I upgraded my 60gb to a 320gb WD 2.5" sata about 5 months ago. It was all incredibly easy on both the physical installation and data transfer fronts. It took hardly any time as well.

okay, hit a roadbump with the little screws. one of them is pretty stripped. trip to bunnings tomorrow i think.
