Finally got around to checking out the voice control. It works really well, but I felt a bit stupid when my houseguest asked me why I was talking to my Xbox.

Also popped in Kinect Sports - really fun! Love table tennis and volleyball.

Had some friends over last night and we played Dance Central and Dance Evolution. It was pretty funny, especially when a friend and I were doing Night of Fire on Extreme and a smacked her in the neck so she couldn't play anymore :)

Just change locale to United States in the system settings, you must be offline to use voice commands though. Feels really strange giving orders to a console :o

About space... depends on the game. I could play Kinect Sports Bowling and Table Tennis at 4 or 5ft just fine. Anything else, you will need the 6ft at a minimum.

I have actually rearranged my living room so I can use my Kinect, I now have the TV in front of the fireplace (is that tacky?) and the Kinect on the mantle :D Now I have about 8ft of space. 2-player anything is a bit tricky with my setup.

But I moved it into my bedroom this morning where I have FAR more room, I live in a pretty small apartment but this is definately the sweet spot. Unfortunately, I don't think my friends want to be huddled around my bed playing Kinect, I will probably just move it in here whenever I'm alone and want to play Kinect Sports (Track and Field is a bitch btw, you need a lot of space and arm room).

If you have a Slim, it's the one cord. If you have the original console there is also a power cord and a wireless dongle extension cord (if you use a wireless dongle).

on saturday i managed to get Harvey Norman to sell me Kinect with Dance Central for $198.

they had a deal with your shape and some other crap games.
I asked if i could swap as the games were the same price ($89 at HN what a rip off) and they said yes.
so score, i was going to use the free game as a trade in towards DC but that was much better.

as for room

i have 6-7 foot btw Kinect and Couch
i noticed yesterday that it was no longer angling itself down.

back when i configured it, it looked down slightly so my feet were covered but last night it was always looking too high so only waist up was in veiw but with HEAPS of dead space above my head.
even a recallibration didnt help, i ended up permanently angling it down with blu tack.

dance central aint so great with no feet.

i still dont have enough space, with me stepping all the way back to the couch kinect adventures will put me on the border of a Good play space so no 2 player for me unelss i sit down and trick it, it does work when i do this strangely.

dance central isnt nearly as embarassing as i thought it would be. (i didnt say NOT embarassing though)
it is a lot of fun and my wife and her sisters love it (funny that seeing as they are all dancers)
the only problem is that it makes me look even whiter than normal.

its some impressive tech that will be great one day and for now, it was a bargain

Your TV should be in the fireplace so you can play videos of campfires burning and deep ocean videos. If you have a plasma panel it may even provide enough heat for you during the winter months.

Got a kinect for Christmas, it's pretty fun. I woke up sore from playing it all last night. I downloaded the sports demo and that seems pretty cool, might get it off play Asia very soon. I'm keen to see how 'normal' games can use the kinect though. Realistically they can only make so many fitness and dancing games.

Kinect Sports is great, Party Mode with friends is really fun :D

I think if it wants to keep the momentum up it will need more games that appeal to both the hardcore and the casual. If you don't get too many games that are clones of popular titles I think it will survive on the casual side.

I quite like Kinect. The whole concept and design is better than having to use a Wiimote, the fact that it can track over 50,000 points in your body is a cool idea, and you can pull off some pretty fun stuff with it. Also, the games are amazing! The whole simplicity of the games is enough on it's own to draw anyone's attention. The only thing I dislike about Kinect is how chunky the sensor is, so I can't complain :D

Tried out kinect sports the other day (friend's sister brought it) and had mixed feelings. The set up can be a bit fiddly especially if your in a confined space and most of the games do nothing for me (stupid horse back riding, jump you stupid horse) but the soccer was good fun, especially the penalty shootout.
