Anyone else going to be watching this? Thought I might as well start up a thread for discussion.
Should start at around 3am. Here's some links for when the time comes:

Thanks mang.
Looks like it starts at 3:30am now :/

Gametrailers are running a pre-show thing at Heatz' link, though, if you're looking for something to fill time.

Well, thanks to that pre-show I now know of Rock of the Dead, which sounds completely brilliant.

Yeah, that did sound pretty cool. NPH

I am going to hate myself for watching this come tomorrow.
E3, World Cup matches, and the NBA finals all in the one week (and all at inconvenient times) is just nuts.

Ah, figured Eurogamer would be doing a text feed again.

Well, actually getting to fly the gunship in Black Ops, that's alright, I suppose. Even if it was disobeying every single law of physics. Everything else looked pretty average though.
Natrak
15-06-2010, 03:42 AM
Okay, Black Ops impressed me. I thought the opening scene looked really well done, and the action in the hind looked like a lot of fun.
AranchineD
15-06-2010, 03:47 AM
That boy Raiden sure do cut alright. That sword system looked like what Die By The Sword did all those years ago, but a billion times better. Is that using Kinect though?
Natrak
15-06-2010, 03:53 AM
Holy shit I am marking out for Gears so much right now. LAMBANT BERSERKER!!!!!!!
Yeah, Rising seemed almost like it would have some Kinect/Move implementation.
AranchineD
15-06-2010, 03:57 AM
Looks like a bit of Lost Planet influence, intentional or otherwise SHOOT THE GLOWING POINTS ON THE INSECT LOOKING THINGS. I loved the chainsaw combo move where one of the other guys kicked the enemy away after chainsawing and it exploded near a bunch of other enemies.
Natrak
15-06-2010, 04:05 AM
Reach campaign looked awesome.
AranchineD
15-06-2010, 04:05 AM
So Halo: Reach has a sprint button and knife combos.
Oh, and playable space battles.
Natrak
15-06-2010, 04:14 AM
Playable space battle gave me chills. Not that it's anything new, but the thought of something like that finally in a Halo game really excited me.
AranchineD
15-06-2010, 04:15 AM
Yeah I did say battles, didn't I? I hope it is more than one, or if it is one I hope it isn't just a big cocktease of an awesome space dogfight.
Natrak
15-06-2010, 04:19 AM
That knife combo was just an extended assassination animation btw. Done by holding down B when meleeing from behind.
AranchineD
15-06-2010, 04:21 AM
Ahhh. Well that's kinda lame then.
I just realised now by the time Reach comes out I'll be all over the shock of space battle/s being in the game and it'll be a bit less exciting, f*** this is why I don't watch these things!
Natrak
15-06-2010, 04:29 AM
Aaand it went all Nintendo press conference.

So the Xbox Slim is confirmed. That mock-up photo was right on the money. For the US, same price as the current model. Built in Wi-Fi.
And it's shipping today
Cerebral
15-06-2010, 05:05 AM
Wireless-n, same price, out now (ish).
Wow, that's really not bad. Sort of want (if there was something actually fundamentally wrong with my 360).
Natrak
15-06-2010, 05:11 AM
360 redesign has a bay for the removable HDD, don't know if they're still doing the whole 360 branded hard drive thing or if you'll be able to slot in your own. They're dropping the price of the Elite and dropping the price of the Arcade.
Kinect doesn't need an extra power supply if plugged into the redesigned 360, but will if connected to the original 360.
Cerebral
15-06-2010, 05:13 AM
The dude on GTTV actually took out the new HDD, looks nothing like the existing ones.
Edit: Oh, I see what you mean. They probably won't I would imagine. (didn't stop me and trin though :))
Natrak
15-06-2010, 05:15 AM
Aye, it didn't look like a standard HDD either, as far as I could tell. So I guess things don't look good on that front.
Cerebral
15-06-2010, 05:17 AM
Also existing 360's will need an additional power plug for Natal. I'm guessing the new one has a special plug for it, hence 'Kinect Ready'
Cerebral
15-06-2010, 05:18 AM
Also I'm going to be honest - I was very impressed by most of the Natal stuff. Except for that creepy as **** animal game.
Nic Xtreme
15-06-2010, 05:19 AM
That was mostly shit. So what are Rare doing then?
I'm no Halo fan, but the greatest things about that conference were (1) Halo Reach has SPACE COMBAT OMG (2) MGS: Rising, looking fantastic, and (3) the Sega Saturn-esque "GUYS IT OUT 2DAY LOL", which was brilliant.
I'll definitely be getting Natal, it seems, as I will be murdered in a domestic attack if I don't pick up that Tai-chi/Yoga game (unless EA Sports Active 2 is better?).
EDIT: Oh what Rare is making that Natal sports game ;_;

So what are the differences for the 360 Slim? I missed out on that segment. Seems like bigger HDD + built-in wifi are the only differences? Like the PS3, I prefer the original designs compared to the slims. Instead of being appealing like the DS into DS Lite its like watching Gameboy turn into VirtualBoy
Also I heard that the PS3 may be releasing a new model of the slim with a faster wifi. Damnit, just after I bought mine :(

I think I read this earlier in the thread as I was skimming, but Natal needs an extra power plug on the old 360, whereas it seems to be integrated into the one plug for the new one. The new one also probably doesn't have the RRoD.
It's also very sexy - that Italian ad was not flattering at all.
Natrak
15-06-2010, 05:31 AM
It's a bigger HDD (removable, but different to those found on the side of standard 360s) and built in N wi-fi. It's also 'whisper quiet'. One would assume it'd be the most reliable 360 to date, but that's just guesswork.
I must say, I actually like the look of the redesign now that I've gotten a decent look. Although I probably like the old look better.
Xanafalgue
15-06-2010, 05:41 AM
Redesign looks really, really nice. Will buy. Out this week here?... :(
The conference was okay; not the complete disaster I thought it might be. CoD opening the show went on for too long and was boring - shant be buying Black Ops. Gears 3 looked amazing and Halo: Reach was STUN WOW GORGE.
Annoyed at the lack of 'hardcore' games.. MGS Rising was decent but where the **** is my Lost Odyssey 2? Are MS waiting for the actual E3 event to begin before we get to see any new games?
As for the Kinect games... I'd probably pick up Kinect Adventures (which looked pretty cool), and the dance game :D That Fitness Evolved thing was pretty impressive too.

Not yet. Which is probably bad. GAME UK just sent me an email "Place your Kinect deposit now!"
Also the new 360 is launching July 16th in the UK, so it could be around then for us, too.
I've heard in the realm of $180.

What's that weird proprietary port that looks like an oddly-shaped USB port above the ethernet port?
Also, is it just me, or does the HDD look like it's in its own proprietary case again? Please tell me that's just a caddy, and that we can indeed put any HDD we want in the thing. I really don't want to have to put up with Microsoft's daylight robbery pricing for HDDs anymore.

Apparently so. (http://gizmodo.com/5563153/the-new-xbox-360-is-smaller-and-blacker-but-the-same-price)
According to Gizmodo, it's a USB port with extra power, so you don't need to use an external power supply with the Kinect sensor.
I don't think I'd buy Kinect if it required yet another power brick, to be honest. (Well, that and the apparent US$149 price tag makes it way, way too expensive for what it is).
Stevorooni

StorminNorman
15-06-2010, 12:00 PM
You plug a transfer cable into your XBox and your old HDD, then you run the CD that comes with it and it magically copies everything across.
If you're changing hardware as well (ie switching 360s) you'll need to do a license transfer via the website. It's a remarkably painless process.
(Insert amusing jab about Microsoft's consumer-hostile obsession with DRM here.)

Tbh I just paid $500 for my 250gb PS3 Slim and that's got much less appealing features.
