I have never wanted anything as much as I want this game.

A thousand times this.

Music by Joe Hisaishi (who does the music for most Ghibli films and Takeshi Kitano films) as well. Trailer looks awesome.
Also, apparently this is a "different game" to the DS version.

Looks fantastic (and I'm sure I'll be buying it knowing Ghibli) but I wish the main character design was slightly more interesting. Its a bit unusual for Ghibli to make a character look so generic
Hmm, wonder how long we'll have to wait for an english translation?

Those visuals, it's been a long time since I've been excited about a JRPG, but this looks amazing. I came in here expecting to have a chuckle at the weaboos but instead I find myself googling the game. Let's hope Level 5 don't pull the old 'release the game over a year later in English speaking countries'.

Are those realtime battles I see? :( Done right, this is the kind of game I'd consider buying a PS3 for. This could just be me, but I think that it'd look HEAPS better if they dropped the FPS down to actually make it look like anime. Having it at 60FPS makes it lose that handdrawn-cel charm.
The overworld is amazing though.

Maybe it's just my uncultured western eye, but it looks pretty typical of Studio Ghibli to me:

Regardless, focus on the skin surface of game presentation is a pretty big problem of late, but particularly in Japanese triple A titles. More money and effort is given to character designs, FMVs, musical scores, and content than it is to creating new or well developed mechanics and things for the player to actually do. Final Fantasy XIII is thoroughly typical, comprising, essentially, a well dressed corridor broken up by bits where you don't even play anything.
That all of the surface-level design is essentially outsourced for this game might bode well, though, with the game studio being left with nothing to focus on but the underlying mechanics.
Hah, I was gonna make that exact post, but got distracted while looking for pictures. Now I don't even need to ^^

I'm not sure if it is quite as prevalent in other genres aside from JRPGs as games like Vanquish is shaping to look quite fine. Regardless, aside from the graphics and enviroments, the rest of the stuff shown hints at typical JRPG fare.

Hmm I suppose but I still think characters like Chihiro & Ashitake & Arren have a little bit more edge that makes them more likable yet familiar. Its pretty subtle yet makes a difference imo

Yeah, cuz a character is likeable and familiar because of how they're drawn.

You honestly can't say that the main character in this is lacking anything that the kid in Ponyo had.

The problem is I ended up hating that kid in Ponyo as a result :( Didn't like the movie much in general either (aimed at a much younger audience) so that didn't help
