Hey, I wrote the fan-film article. I'm glad some people enjoyed it. The feedback has really given me a boost in mood. If you're interested, you should definitely check out my blog (you'd be the first person that isn't a relative/friend to do so). The link is in my sig.
Looking forward to contributing to Hyper in the future.
So Naughty Bear is shit then?

You can tell things with Hyper are bad when people recommend watching a Good Game review over reading a Hyper one.

I'm only recommending it because it shows the inept controls and various bugs. I think they gave it like 1 / 10 or something.

Whoever did the review of Space Demons is a bloody legend. I read that back in the late 80s and instantly fell in love with it. I was so pleased to stumble across a piece devoted to it in the mag. Brought back a lot of memories.
I really like the new layout of Hyper. I hate having to "read around" pictures and text that is place throughout articles.
Keep up the good work and I'll keep buying.

Average Critics Score of Naughty Bear is only 4.2
The average gamespot readers score is 6.2 but you have to allow for the idiots who give a game a 10 because they don't want to accept they have just spent 100 bucks on a polished turd.
So Hyper, how much were you paid for the glowing review? ;-)
Fancy wasting two pages on such a shit game and then giving it an 8, something's not right there....
you care about scores that much?

I too read Space Demons a while back. Maybe '94? It was an okay novel, though you could tell that the author had never played a video game in her life. I enjoyed the piece on it, though. I think that this is the direction that the mag needs to go in, more analysis of cultural artefacts related to gaming. We can get the latest news on upcoming games from the net.

Reading that piece in the back, I can't help but not sympathise with any of it. I kept thinking "they're demons, kill them"
It's not like the enemies were human, or even aliens, "demons" seems to imply that most likely they are going to kill you, so not killing them would perhaps be a poor choice.
But then it depends if they have free will or not (like the characters in say buffy or true blood).
Still I'd kill them to be on the safe side, it's not likely they are going to demanding the right to vote and starting demon peace rallies any time soon.

I bought it a week ago and I've been trying hard to read it but I just keep putting it back down after 5 minutes.
That E3 coverage was boring, almost every game started with exclaiming how exciting and fantastic the game series is, no matter what it is, describing exactly what happens in the trailer, then some version of 'This looks good, let's hope it plays good.' Many of these games showed a bunch of new features at E3 but many of those features weren't even mentioned, and even fewer were described in detail (in the Fallout: New Vegas one, it described the third person view as actually being good this time around...and then doesn't describe why that is).
Bunch of just plain factual errors too, FO: New Vegas is introducing an aiming button? Portal was only available on console through Xbox Live? Really?

The strangest comment imo was the was the one hoping that Portal 2 would not be "dumbed down" for consoles.
Since when do Valve make stupid games? Are they hoping to catch the bogan market with Portal 2?

Valve has been dumbing down stuff for years.
