You all suck at TV's, Sony Bravia 40 inch HD is where it's at.

I might just get a "Palsonic" and blame Hyper later.

Its to go in my bedroom. They're on sale so I thought why not. I don't watch TV so it will just be for games and movies.

(Edit - actually its supposed to be a gift but i might keep it and get something else instead. Why is buying tvs so comfuzzing and why do they call cost so much ****ing money)

I have and only buy Sony Bravia's. I love my latest Bravia with motion sensor and it costs the same amount to run as a lightbulb with its 5 star rating.

Compare TV's here:

My Samsung LCD Series 6 sucks in direct sunlight, even with the backlit onto 10 there's still far too many reflections thanks to the glossy screen. So try to avoid glossy screens imo

My Bravia has a beautiful mottled semi gloss screen - just lovely.

What are Sanyo like for TVs?

Was thinking of getting another LCD for my other lounge room and I've just had a new Dick Smiths open up in my area and they have a Sanyo LCD32XR10F 32" LCD for $499 (save $200!) as part of their opening specials

Sanyo has threee letters of the word shady.

I'll let that speak for itself.

I'm not desperate for it and just read some questionable reviews on Sanyo TV quality so I'll probably give it a miss.

My 40" Bravia in my main living area is fine and I hardly ever use the other room, I just have my old 51cm CRT in there and don't like looking at it sitting there all old and non lcd-ey >_>

Shithouse. Grab a Bravia as stated, at the very least grab a Samsung, any other brand not worth it.

any other brand not worth it.

Sharp Aquos sets are comparable to Samsungs.

Hell if the major negatives cnet can find with a 32" set they reviewed earlier this year are "Some image noise and pixellation in standard definition, Backlights can wash out colours and blacks if turned up too high" then they're doing something right.

JB is selling the latest Samsung 32" model for $598 at the mo. Not the full HD model, the 1366 x 768, 720p jobbie. My brother has one, and it's a beauty. Great price for a very good TV.

And yeah, I'd steer well clear of Sanyo.

I'm buying a TV tomorrow. Conveniently, the interest free period is longer for non-sale items than it is sale items, and all the items that aren't on sale are nice and big.

So I'm looking at a Panasonic Viera Neo 3D 50 inch Plasma for $2890. I've read good things about Panasonic's plasma TVs, and while the Samsung LED TVs look oh-so-pretty they are more expensive for a smaller screen. Opinions?

Sony Bravia is where it's at bitches.

^^ LED tvs are beautiful, but if you want the size go for the panasonic. Look at some consumer reviews on the net to help you decide.

Really? what so bad about them?

I've been planning to finally buy a Full HD TV pretty soon
(been using my monitor for gaming and abit sick of it) and i noticed dick smith and Big W had the Sanyo LCD42XR9DA 42inch LCD for $798 which is pretty good value for a Full HD TV in that size as i'm on a budget..

btw does anyone know what stores that sell TV's have laybuys, Big W and Dick Smith won't allow me to laybuy a TV there as it's against their policies

If you really want a 3D tv having tested all the brands, Panasonic is where its at. Glasses cost you 1 small child per pair though.

Edit: realised I'm replying to a ancient thread..This is perfect for me.

Can you get 2 pairs if you happen to have a small child as cute as texta's?

What's Hyper's recommendations for a TV around $2500? My parents have a Sony Bravia and it really does the job but I'm interested in the opinion of those who spend their lives in front of the TV.

Anything Sony or Samsung LEDs are fine. Could go for Panasonics too

If I had to choose with today's tvs I'd probably go with a Bravia & do some haggling on top of that (like $400 or so)
