The original mod was made a long time ago so I'm not sure that it is still being modded for... This uses the source engine.

Played a pug for a little while - fun game, but I wouldn't want to play with people I don't know, even friends I'd want to have voice.

Can't really see us playing easier than hard either.

It's basically a top down combination of Left 4 Dead and the marine campaign of the old AVP2.

Long story short, bought Dell Inspiron w/256mb 8600GT on board. Wrenched out card and shovelled in 512mb 9600GT. Worked great until I clicked 'yes' while playing Far Cry 2 to update my drivers. New drivers say my cooling lacks horsepower; borks card.

Computer says no.


I tried a while back to reinstall the previous drivers but something happened and well, I'm just not that skilled in that shit.

Same connections and all that; just had to moves clumps of cables and push and shove a bit to wiggle the bigger heatsink (attached to the new g/card) amongst the workings.

It doesn't do anything to the keys, so it's pretty unplayable.

Me and Cer ****ing own by ourselves, he stuns everything and I punch it/chainsaw it/minigun it.

Not going to play it again for a while though beause we were at the end of the last level of the game, Cer had died and I was making a dash back to the ship before the nuke exploded, I think I just have to get there to win so I quickly flame everything and run past it. Then I get to the objective

Just discovered that there's another mini-campaign in the add-ons option in the Options menu. Might have to give that a try sometime.

And I just played a bit of Insane. Parasites on the very first level. **** me dead.

Useful console commands, fixed that third person view TAT posted before, you can play all the levels in single player too. Nifty.

The above proves useful if you want some cheap experience. Set the 'asw_ignore_need_two_player_requirement 1' command, then start a game by yourself on the Sewer level. Take a Flamethrower and some other gun then speed run that sucker, just tapping the Flamethrower on the aliens to get them burning and running past, and using the gun on the barrels.

Should be able to easily beat 2 minutes (I just got the speed run time for the level, 1:30, using this method with the flamethrower and grenade launcher), and get about 1500 experience if you do it on Hard. Then press Esc, 'Call A Vote', set the level again, and repeat until you get bored.

To everyone who is wondering about this being free: the inclusion of the tile-based SDK is the key. Like with TF2, they will have competitions and submissions for a whole bunch of user-made content (probably dolled up by the developers, as well as developer content, too), and release it as big packages - new characters, weapons, maps, enemies. The difference with TF2 - you'll pay for it.

We got overrun with parasites one time and there must have been about 30 of them swarming around when the last guy died.

Just finished an Insane campaign with randoms online. From the second set of rocks onwards we were down to two people, just after the last computer hack I was the last one left, and I ran for my ****ing life to the end with only a flamethrower with two clips left and an empty prototype assault rifle still with five stun grenades. Managed it with literally no health left in my bar.

That was quite fun.

Yes but sometimes its needed, insane mode has a harder tech door puzzle, and you could probably bust the door down before the dumbass figures the puzzle out.
It might burn through all your ammo, but if a special weapons guy brain ammo supplies, you should be fine... If he drops some out for you that is.

i finished this on hard (the second highest difficulty) with only two people and while it took a little while to get the perfect load out lined up it was never really a challenge.

getting a little disappointed, i want new campaigns and better game play but i suppose i have no right to complain as it is free.

Until new content does come out, may as well give random enemies a go. Or go and grab a few maps off the Steam forums, there should be a few survival maps finished by now.

New update for the game: added a Brutal difficulty that's harder than Insane (OH GOOD), the A.I. director is now just a menu option instead of having to trek through console commands (OH GOOD), and there's an option to turn on full friendly fire (OH GOOD).

EDIT: Good lord, the A.I. director spawn parasite on any level on EASY.
