Oh man, I've been playing the stained glass game from the site that dice wars is on. Most simple yet freaking hard puzzle game I've played in ages, I nearly went insane doing level 5, but I got there >_> :D

Hats off to you, sir! I had a better start on level 5 (3 guaranteed edge blocks, whereas you only have one there, the bottom left) but I still couldn't solve the bastard. Screenshot for anyone daring enough to do it, there will be a prize if you do!

I love how the further you get through the game, the more you seem to get the same thing that happens with those tattslotto scratchies. It builds your hopes up by letting you get 2/3 of the puzzle solved, then you get hit with a cockblock and have to undo everything. :P

Once you've cleared a level, you can view other people's saved contraptions and find out just how mundane yours is.

EDIT: Argh, my first attempt at the junkyard level saw me get over all the junk with a simple buggy first go, but there was no place to hold the pink wheel. When I made an enclosure, it didn't work so I took a different approach (http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=3195522). Also I just realised you can use the pink wheel as a wheel. :P

How come every Tower Defence game is identical? Things walk along a path, you set up turrets, turrets shoot things, the end. Is that the entire genre, reskinned over and over again? Boring! What happened to those games like Defend Your Castle where enemies attacked your castle and you had to defend it and could have a direct influence (ie. manually attacking) on the proceedings?

Nah, I visited a site dedicated to Tower Defence games and I've had enough of those ones where the enemies walk a path. Seems like if you've played one, you've played them all. Aren't there any others like Defend Your Castle? That's the one where people charge your castle and you can throw them into the air with the mouse, capture them and turn them into allies, etc.

EDIT: I had a go at Desktop Tower Defence and it's actually very good! At first I thought it was too easy and unbalanced, but then I realised there were multiple difficulty levels, so I may come back later and play it on Normal or Hard. But it's definitely better then the generic path-walking ones, because the fact that you can control the creeps movement by your turret placement adds heaps more strategy. Pep in the mail.

Man that fantastic contraption thing gets hard! The last level I did took me well over an hour, and when I looked at other player's solutions there was some very simple stuff, like a design using just three wheels that everyone had copied and uploaded as their own. They seem just trial & error until the physics engine throws you a bone though. Me, I went the complicated route and managed to build three separate machines in the one tiny area. I had improved this one a bit to make it faster, but then the chain kept breaking whenever I watched the replay and it wouldn't succeed like it did when I actually made it. Stupid buggy game!

Another fantastic Double Fine game, this time a pisstake of old adventure games - you need to find jokes for Tim Schafer's hosting of the 2008 (or was it 09?) GDC awards. It's so good! I had to use a walkthrough to get all 22 jokes, though, but I do suck.

There's also a hilarious unlockable when you get them all :D
