By all means, do it. Even the cheap ones are great. Usually with lenses, the more you spend, the better they are, but for prime lenses it doesn't matter so much because mine was $150 and it's probably the best lens I have, including my 500 dollar Sigma macro lens.

Yeah, my favourite lens is my good old 50mm f1.8 II prime. It's simplistic but it's all I need for most things.
