GAMERS TODAY CARE.

That excuse died with the n64.

Seriously lad Get a grip, Nindy have lost the plot 2 generations ago. Im not a nindy hater, I have played since the game & watch days, i have had the systems and currently own a gameboy, GB Advance, DS, DSlite, wii from launch (burnt) vowed never to get a another Nindy system but a sale on the Zelda OCC combo 3ds was too good to pass up then i got home to find us Aussies dont get the dam game inc in the combo pack so WTF, yet have played it but quite frankly im done with Nindy till they become the originality powerhouse they were and not the same old 5 games dragged over to yet again a sloppy teched paperweight waiting to happen.

Nintendo made this a compelling argument with the original Wii 6-7 years ago (as well as with the DS when it went up against the PSP), and it is totally believable and possible. They just failed to have adequate content production to make Wii a viable console for non-grandmas, despite their obvious ability to afford that. Nothing about Wii U has shown that they have any intention or ability to fix that problem, and certain people won't be fooled twice.

I for one won't be grabbing one at launch this time. The Wii had a very different and "have to give that a go!" natured controller. The Wii U controller is not sufficiently different from many other products on the market to make it interesting - it's an inferior iPad with sticks.

Can't pep again yet so will just post, as I couldn't agree more. I didn't think much of the Wii at first, but then I played Twilight Princess at an expo and decided to get one on launch. Quickly sold it off when I realised it wasn't all that great after all. I'll admit I had fun with Twilight Princess and Excite Truck, but not because of anything the Wii and/or motion control added, they were just good games (and would have remained so with a regular joypad).

Aub is actually right on this.

Nintendo aim their consoles at a different market these days and they're pretty good at it. Complaining that the NintendoU isn't what you want is a bit like saying that the Wiggles songs are too childish.

I'm just not sure that the WiiU's gimmick is going to be as attractive as the Wii's was. The attraction of the Wii was obvious, I don't think the WiiU is going to impress in the same way (though it wouldn't surprise me if I was entirely wrong). I'm mostly expecting that the WiiU will have something of a sub-par launch, there really doesn't seem to be any reason for the hardcore to get on board at launch at all and I don't expect the gimmick is going to catch fire the same way motion control did so early on. It'll sell enough that Nintendo can spin the launch as successful, but it wouldn't surprise me if the system experiences some 3DS-style growing pains.

Nintendo offering “insane incentives” to publish on Wii U eShop.

INSANE!

I'm guessing the best we can hope for storage-wise is a 3rd party HD that sits underneath the system, because I don't think Nintendo is planning on backing these incentives up with anything to keep them on.

Bad online and digital downloads has always dogged Nintendo.

Licence transfers anyone?
