Are you sure? I thought the specs noted it will have digital audio through HDMI ... though it sucks that there is no optical out audio option :/

Yeah the modern receivers will use HDMI, but still a lot of people are probably still using HDMI direct to their TV for HD video, and an optical out for the audio.

Yeah I could have read the wrong data about the Wii U audio.

Yeah that makes more sense, still no mention of optical out for audio though, which suggests the digital option for audio is limited to HDMI :/

I'd be interested to know the storage capacity of the flash memory as well, these days we could have something of 100GB or so using flash memory, given Nintendo is supposed to be improving their online capabilities, hopefully this translates into storage options as well.

For >$100? Wasn't long ago I bought a 64GB SSD for ~$110. I don't think Nintendo would put such a pricey component in any console they made just for storage, considering their reputation for astoundingly cost-effective console designs.

Yeah thats the main reason in my mind they won't either ... I was more thinking the technology is there.

Still it's got to be more than the Wii's 512MB!

I was won over by e3. Got me a bit keen again. I'm looking forward to the final reveal at Tokyo Game Show. The new online infrastucture and connectivity will give me a reason to buy a 3DS as well.

Quite keen to take part in the current gen of consoles for the first time even it is as part of a swansong lol.

If they are talking about downloading retail titles then they will need storage to accommodate that.

Apparently friend codes are back in some form, and achievements will be up to the developer to add.

OH YOU MEAN WHAT THEY COULD HAVE BEEN DOING ALREADY? THANKS NINTENDO!
