What's with the high price of VC games?
Only just picking up a Wii this week I jumped on the shop channel tonight with the intention of grabbing some old SNES games for a bit of nostalgia. Looking through I notice they all cost 800 Wii points. I don't really know what this means so I go to the points purchase page and see that 1000 points costs $15AUD. WTF? Does anyone else think this is a blatant rip-off? All I wanted to do was jump on a few old titles for a bit of nostalgic fun but if each game is going to cost me $12.50 then they can forget it. Reading through the list there was about 15 or so games that I was going to buy. I had my credit card all ready too. Now I'm sulking and haven't bought a thing because I know I'd feel too guilty for wasting money. I would find it hard to justify spending that much even on the best of the best VC games (Super Metroid, Secret of Mana). To put it into perspective, I just purchased Dead Space Extraction online for $16 (plus $8 postage, but still), $4 more than a decade old game served via digital distribution. Is this just an Aussie thing? Do you guys purchase wii points from somewhere cheaper (a bit like the Xbox gold subscriptions)? If so, where? |

I think it's a world wide rip off. Nintendo are pricing in regards to demand, they're a business. If people were to stop buying off the Wii Shop, then I'm sure prices would drop dramatically. Not going to happen, though.

If someone was to only buy one Castlevania game on VC/Wiiware which one should it be?
ATM I have the choice of Rondo of Blood, Rebirth, Castlevania I II and III on NES, Castlevania IV on SNES. I'll come out and say I'm not inerested in the NES games and as I never played it on SNES I can miss that too. That just leaves Rondo and Rebirth to pick from. I did play SOTN on 360 and the two DS games if it matters at all. And another thing, what's with all the different copies of Street Fighter II on VC? I just counted six different versions (dunno what Alpha 2 is... maybe it doesn't count). Surely you don't have to buy each version to get the whole Street Fighter 2 experience? |
